UOC KP establishes European Exarchates

According to the website, as of May 13, 2017 the UOC-KP in Europe incorporates 44 parishes: Netherlands – 2 parishes, Hungary – 1, Italy - 8 France – 6, Sweden - 5, Germany - 6, Spain - 3, Portugal - 5, Czech Republic - 1, United Kingdom - 1 Lithuania - 1 Finland - 1 Austria - 1 Slovenia - 1, Greece - 1 Switzerland - 1.

On May 13, the Holy Synod of the UOC-KP decided to establish the European Exarchate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kyiv Patriarchate.

 

The newly established ecclesial entity will be led by Archbishop Hilarion (Protsyk) of Rivne and Ostroh, who is the Chair of the Synodal Department of Foreign Church Relations.

 

According the official site of the UOC-KP, the Synod decided to integrate the Diocese of Paris of the UOC KP and parishes in the European Union and the Swiss Confederation into the European Exarchate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kyiv Patriarchate.

In France there is an active Diocese, led by Metropolitan Michael (Laroche) of Paris. Other parishes are led by Archbishop Hilarion of Rivne and Ostroh, Head of the Synodal Department of Foreign Church Relations.
