Patriarch Filaret said that representatives of the UOC-KP would not be present at the funeral of the UOC-MP head Metropolitan Volodymyr. He believes that the invitation to Metropolitan Volodymyr’s funeral would be a sign of the future merger, TSN reported.

“We won’t be present at the funeral. I called in my address to the Church to pray for the repose of Metropolitan Volodymyr and I also performed a funeral service. But we were not invited to the funeral. The representatives of other Churches are likely to be present there and so we will not be invited. We are not striving for that. For if they invited us, we would certainly have come to the funeral. And it would be a good sign of our future merger”, said Filaret.

“But I believe that in these circumstances they will not invite our Church. I don’t believe in it. They still have not come to this issue”, said the UOC-KP Patriarch.
