The UOC-MP has given an attitude regarding Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Fanar and his meeting with Patriarch Bartholomew.
Archpriest Mykola Danilevich, Deputy Chair of the DECR UOC-MP, wrote about this in his Telegram, according to Fraza.
"I believe that the very fact of the meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Patriarch Bartholomew in Istanbul, regardless of its results, may negatively affect the personal rating of the president and his Servants of the People Party," the UOC-MP speaker said.
He recalled that "believers of the UOC-MP, who overwhelmingly voted in 2019 for Volodymyr Zelensky was rather wary of such a meeting. This will further discourage people from supporting the "Servants" in the upcoming elections.
"People are afraid that Poroshenko's politics and ideology will return," archpriest Mykola concluded.
On October 16, after a prayer service for Ukraine in the Patriarchal Church of St. George in Istanbul, President Zelensky and the first lady met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
According to the official website, President Volodymyr Zelensky invited the patriarch to visit Ukraine.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to His Holiness for his unconditional personal support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, our independence, as well as for all the support that the patriarch provides to Ukraine.
"I am grateful for everything that you have done and are doing for Ukraine. Such support on the path to peace is important for us. Ukraine is warm and welcoming. We will all be delighted to see you, it will be an essential visit for Ukraine," Volodymyr Zelensky said.
