UOC Primate discusses the situation of Greece and Ukraine with Athos monks

On July 1, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Onufriy received at his residence in the Kyiv-Caves Monastery Hieromonk Thomas from of St. Thomas the Apostle Skete, located at the Holy Mount Athos along with the representatives of Sviatohirsk monastics.

According to the official website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), the Athos brethren told about the life of the monastery on Mount Athos and their pilgrimage to the holy places and monasteries of Ukraine. Hieromonk Philip offered Metropolitan his book dedicated to the Holy Mountain Hesychasts. The guests also invited the Primate visit their skit.

As reported, in his conversation with Svyatohirsk fathers Metropolitan Onufriy touched upon the socio-political situation in Greece and Ukraine, noting that “God loves both Greek and Ukrainian nations and sends them such trials.” At the end of the conversation, he thanked the guests for their prayer for Ukraine and conveyed blessings to the brethren of their monastery.
