Vandals damage St Volodymyr monument in Canada

In Winnipeg, Manitoba, unknown persons desecrated the monument to the Holy Prince Volodymyr the Baptist – they broke off and stole his head. Also, the intruders cut off the cross in the hands of St. Volodymyr. Historian Serhiy Shumylo wrote it on Facebook.

"It happened at night, around 4 am local time (May 21 - ed.). The monument was installed at the expense of the Ukrainian community of Winnipeg, which is one of the largest in Canada. The monument was the decoration of this Canadian city, created by the sculptor Leo Mol and was consecrated in 1984 by Pope John Paul II,” said Shumil.

The monument is installed next to the cathedral of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
