Viktor Yanukovych Opens Home For Disabled in Monastery in Chernivtsi Region

On 8 November, President Viktor Yanukovych ceremonially opened a home for disabled persons in the Men’s Monastery of the Holy Ascension in Bancheny of Chernivtsi Region.

On 8 November, President Viktor Yanukovych ceremonially opened a home for disabled persons in the Men’s Monastery of the Holy Ascension in Bancheny of Chernivtsi Region. According to UNIAN-religions, the construction of the home began in 2010 and was carried out by the monastery led by Archimandrite Lonhin (Fr. Mykhailo Zhar) with the money received as charitable donations of the parishioners.

The Head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, Mykhailo Papiev once approached Ukraine’s President with a proposal to instruct the Cabinet of Ministers to pass a resolution to establish an all-Ukrainian Center of Social Rehabilitation on the basis of the home for disabled run by the monastery.  

V. Yanukovych passed a van Gazel with a lift for wheelchairs to the home of disabled at the monastery.
