On October 25, the Parliament of Wales (Senedd Cymru) passed a statement recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine as a genocide against the Ukrainian people.

The Embassy of Ukraine in the United Kingdom reported this in a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), according to Ukrinform.

"We are grateful to Senedd for recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine as a genocide committed against Ukrainians. This is an important milestone in restoring historical justice and raising awareness about the millions of innocent victims," the statement reads.

The Parliament of Wales' website reported that Senedd considers the Holodomor to have been a premeditated crime perpetrated and led by Stalin and the Soviet government against the Ukrainian people. Senedd regards the Holodomor as an act of genocide and continues to support the Ukrainian people in resisting the illegal war initiated by Putin.

The Parliament also mentioned the role of Welsh journalist Gareth Jones in bringing the cruelty of the Holodomor to the attention of the global community.

To date, 28 countries have officially recognized the Holodomor as genocide against the Ukrainian people at the state level, and decisions have been made in one of the parliamentary chambers in four other countries.
