KYIV — The web site of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate posted on February 26, 2010, Viktor Yanukovych’s address voiced at the service ahead of the inauguration:

Your Holiness and Your Beatitude, I am extremely grateful to you for your prayer by which you have blessed me and Ukraine to have good journey.

I am sure that the Ukrainian nation will overcome all the difficulties, all the challenges of time that God sent us today. We will overcome all that and be unified.

The Ukrainian nation is strong, the Ukrainian soil is fertile, and the Ukrainian people are laborious. With the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, with the hope that our resources are enough  for the benefit of our motherland, our children, and grandchildren to surmount all the difficulties and build up a strong state to be respected all over the world. May God help us in that.

Viktor Yanukovych,

President of Ukraine
