The World Congress of Ukrainians called Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych to return the thematic section about the Holodomor of 1932-1933 to the official presidential web site.
“The Soviet regime for decades concealed from Ukrainians and the world these tragic pages of Ukrainian history. Attempts to deny the genocide of the Ukrainian nation are made even today when undisputable historical documents, on the basis of which the Supreme Council passed the Law On the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine on November 28, 2006, and fifteen countries of the world recognized it as a genocide against the Ukrainian nation, have been revealed to the world,” notes the address.
The authors of the address remind that the law on the Holodomr in particular envisages that “state authorities…are obliged to: promote…spread information about the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine among the citizens of Ukraine and the world.”
Therefore, in the opinion of the World Congress of Ukrainians, Yanukovych should as soon as possible return the section on the Holodomor to his official web site.
