Worship and don’t doubt

20.04.2017, 09:44

Easter is the celebration that changes everything. It changes the history of the world as well as our own destiny. It also changes our concept of God.

We were ready to listen to Christ’s beautiful words and rejoice at His kindness, but when He died we cried bitterly.  We felt that kindness was powerless, that evil prevailed, and death had its final say.

Joining the Myrrhbearers, we are now rushing to pay tribute to the deceased. But we run into an angel at the tomb and hear his strange words, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen” (Matthew 28:5-6)

And here he is walking towards us with an astonishing spring message, “Rejoice!” The faith in God - who is incarnate, suffering, deceased and risen from the dead - is overflowing with joy. If there is no such joy then we don’t know the Great News or we are distorting it.

The women were overwhelmed and couldn’t control their feelings. They “clasped his feet and worshipped him.” (Matthew 28:9) When the apostles met Him in Galilee they were more reserved: “When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.” (Matthew 28:17).

Let us in these days of celebration worship Him with millions of living witnesses. It’s only when we worship Him as God we can be the partakers of His power and life.

Jesus is the Lord. He is the Lord of life and death, yesterday and tomorrow, here and now, in hardships and joy.  And if He tells us to rejoice now, let’s be obedient to Him and may our Easter be special, radiant and happy.

Christ is Risen!
