During the opening of the meeting with the heads of churches and religious organizations, Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych stressed that the church should not participate in the election campaign, reported UNIAN.

Yanukovych stated that the church should not interfere in the political process as it can divide the society.

He noted that priests can have their own opinion on the election process, but they should not  conduct any public activity in this regard.

“I know that there are requests, pressure is being put and motivations are created. We have done it all in our life, but it should all be left in the past,” said the president.
