Yelensky and Christian Broadcasting Network discuss role of Ukraine's religious organizations in wartime

09 February, 14:43

Viktor Yelensky, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience (DESS), discussed current issues with representatives of Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) — one of the largest international Christian media networks, broadcasting in many languages and reaching a wide audience in various regions of the world.

This was reported by the DESS press service.

During the conversation, the focus was on the role of Ukrainian churches and religious organizations during the war. The participants discussed their involvement in providing humanitarian aid and support to the civilian population, internally displaced persons, military personnel, and their families, as well as their active volunteer efforts.

A separate issue addressed was the religious dynamics within the Orthodox community in Ukraine. In this context, the participants examined the current church structure and the government's approaches to ensuring freedom of conscience while adhering to legislation governing state-religious relations.

Significant attention was also given to the systematic Russian propaganda aimed at discrediting Ukraine and its religious policies in the international arena.
