Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 1062 cultural heritage sites have been damaged or destroyed.
The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy reported that from February 24, 2022, to April 25, 2024, Russia destroyed or damaged 1062 cultural heritage sites. Among them, 123 are of national significance, 864 are of local significance, and 75 are newly discovered cultural heritage sites. This was reported by Ukrinform.
Specifically, the damaged or destroyed sites include 316 architectural and urban planning objects, 307 architectural objects, 226 historical objects, 61 architectural and urban planning, historical objects, 56 archaeological sites, 39 architectural and historical objects, 21 monumental art objects, 19 urban planning and monumental-decorative art objects, 7 architectural and monumental art objects, 5 urban planning objects, 2 science and technology architectural objects, 1 architectural, monumental art, and urban planning object, 1 architectural and garden-park art object, and 1 architectural and garden-park art object.
Most of the damaged cultural heritage sites are located in Kharkiv region (299), Kherson region (144), Donetsk region (125), Odessa region (115), Chernihiv region (71), as well as in Kyiv region and Kyiv (69).
Additionally, cultural heritage has suffered in Mykolaiv (44 sites), Zaporizhzhia (44), Lviv (36), Dnipropetrovsk (34), Luhansk (30), Sumy (25), Khmelnytskyi (10), Poltava (6), Vinnytsia (4), Zhytomyr (4), Kirovohrad (1), and Cherkasy (1) regions.
