12.12.2024, 14:15

Readers will learn how the Russians distorted the history of St. Sophia and changed the date of the cathedral's foundation.

The first edition of the book “St. Sophia of Kyiv - a Millennial Symbol of the Ukrainian State” (by Drs. Nadiia Nikitenko and Svitlana Chorna and designer Oksana Zhenzhera) was published in late November. This was reported by BigKyiv.

“300 pages and 100 illustrations about the struggle for the history of St. Sophia, its construction and decoration, the contribution to the development of the Church, culture and our state by Volodymyr the Great, Yaroslav the Wise, Petro Mohyla and the glorious Ivan Mazepa,” the Ministry of Culture says.

“You will also have an opportunity to read about how the memory of Metropolitan Sylvester Kosiv was destroyed and our national treasures, such as church supplies and old prints, were appropriated.”
