11 Wooden Churches Burn Down in Lviv Oblast in Last Five Years

During the last five years, 11 wooden churches burned down in the Lviv Oblast. All in all, there were 17 fires in churches, including three arson cases and two violations of fire safety regulations.

All in all, there were 17 fires in churches, including three arson cases and two violations of fire safety regulations, Serhii Dmytrovskyi, head of the Chief Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Lviv Oblast, said at the May 17 session of the Lviv Regional Council in his report on the loss of an architectural monument of the 17th century – a wooden church in the village of Perevolochna, Busk District, on April 25.  

According to Dmytrovskyi, the Lviv Oblast has 490 wooden architectural monuments, of which 19 burned down during the last 19 years, zaxid.net reported.
