1,553 cultural heritage sites damaged in Ukraine due to Russian aggression

As a result of Russian aggression, 1,553 cultural heritage sites and 2,388 cultural infrastructure facilities have been destroyed or damaged in Ukraine.

This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications.

"Due to Russian aggression, a total of 1,553 cultural heritage sites and 2,388 cultural infrastructure facilities have been destroyed or damaged in Ukraine, according to a report from the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications.

Among the damaged heritage sites, 148 are of national significance, while 1,287 have local significance, and 118 have recently been discovered. Damage to these sites has been recorded across 18 regions, with the most significant losses occurring in the Kharkiv region (340 sites), followed by the Kherson region (293), Odesa region (181), Donetsk region (173), and the Kyiv region, including Kyiv itself (112).

Of the cultural infrastructure sites that sustained damage due to shelling and hostilities, 481 were completely destroyed. The greatest losses to cultural infrastructure were seen in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, and Sumy regions.

Destruction has been reported in 324 territorial communities across Ukraine. The most damage has been seen in the communities of Donetsk (452), Luhansk (122), Sumy (37), Kharkiv (33), Dnipropetrovsk (23), and Zaporizhzhia (28) regions.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications noted that since almost the entire territory of Luhansk and significant parts of the Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Kherson regions are under temporary occupation, it has been impossible to make an accurate assessment of the damage.
