Representatives of 28 Baptist churches of annexed Crimea decided to register under the Russian Union of Baptists. This in his blog writes editor in chief of "International Christian newspaper" Andreas Patts, reports invictory.com.
This decision was taken on July 7 during a pastoral conference in central Simferopol Baptist Church.
The conference was attended by Chairman of the Russian Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists Alexei Smirnov.
Smirnov said that the initiative to enter to the Russian union belongs exclusively to Christians of Crimea. He also stressed that the Moscow leadership wishes only to help fellow believers in the registration process in order the "local churches would be free to carry out service and live according to their vocation"
Crimean union to become a part of the Union of Baptist churches of Southern region of Russian Federation.
Previously, 39 churches of former Crimean Association of Baptists founded and registered a standalone Union. How will the relationship between the two Baptist unions in Crimea evolve, is not clear.
