An airstrike launched by Russian forces killed a 4-year-old girl; her mother had died earlier, while a priest attempted to save the child.
As RISU previously reported, on the morning of October 11, the Russian army launched an attack in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, using a FAB-250 aerial bomb. The explosion occurred in the vicinity of the Church of St. Job of Pochaiv, where local residents were present at the time. Those who were injured were quickly transported by police officers to a hospital in Druzhkivka for medical assistance.
Later, information emerged regarding the casualties, as reported by Vechirniy Kyiv.
"When you are four years old, your entire life lies ahead of you. But the Russians decide otherwise. First, they kill your mother, and then they take your life. A Russian bomb claimed the life of a 4-year-old girl and a priest who tried to shelter her in a church. The Russians call themselves Christians, yet day after day, they violate the First Commandment by killing innocent people. This is not an accident; it is in their nature. Terror has a name: Russia. Eternal memory to those who were innocently killed," said Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, commenting on the tragedy that occurred on Saturday morning.
Yermak later reported that the priest, who was initially believed to have died while saving the child, had actually survived. He also shared a photo of a police officer rushing toward a recently bombed church, where traces of blood could be seen on the steps.
