80 Protestant congregations and one mission "disappear" in Belarus after re-registration

During the visit of well-known American evangelist Franklin Graham, who spoke at the "Festival of Hope" in Minsk on May 16–17, it became evident how many Protestant congregations in Belarus were dissolved during the re-registration process.

This was reported by Christian Vision.

It should be noted that the results of the campaign to re-register religious organizations have not yet been officially announced. Alexander Lukashenko revealed some information during a meeting with Graham, saying:

“There are 850 Protestant congregations, 20 missions, and 5 educational institutions in Belarus. Therefore, your faith is very well represented here.”

He apparently cited data prepared by the office of the Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Nationalities.

According to information on the Commissioner’s website, there were 931 congregations of all Protestant denominations in Belarus before the re-registration process. If the figures provided by Lukashenko are accurate, it implies that 81 organizations have been dissolved.

Additionally, prior to re-registration, there were 21 Protestant missions in Belarus, meaning that at least one is now closed. The number of educational institutions has remained unchanged.
