This photo shows the world that we now (almost two years later!) see through the holes in our houses caused by Russian missiles... This vision of the world is really different now than it was in peacetime...
Today, Russia has once again launched a massive attack with various types of missiles across Ukraine... There were explosions in different cities, including near my home in “Lukianivka”. There are dead and wounded everywhere, a lot of new destruction... This is how Russia once again congratulated Ukraine on Christmas and the New Year... I feel incredible pain in my heart. Sometimes it seems that the psyche will not stand it anymore (( Anyone who has not seen what war, bombing, death are, will hardly understand what millions of Ukrainians feel... Unfortunately, in the West, the media, ordinary citizens and even fellow scientists are paying less and less attention, compassion and understanding to the problems of war in some "distant" and "alien" Ukraine ((( People here are "tired" of negative news. They don't want to hear about the war anymore, as it makes them feel uncomfortable. Moreover, they see the war only on TV and smartphones, as a kind of "entertainment". This does not allow them to really feel its horror and tragedy. Many people do not want to understand why we see the world after 24.02.22 in black and white, why we react emotionally to talk about the "great" Russian culture, the Russian church, etc., why we no longer want to see any organisations (public, political, commercial, cultural or religious) in Ukraine that are associated with the centre in the aggressor state. Of course, if their homes and they themselves were under Russian bombardment for even a few minutes, I am sure that their "tolerance" and "broad-mindedness" would change in an instant (as it happened to me and millions of other Ukrainians). However, thank God, they have no relatives or friends killed in this war, no homes destroyed. Thank God, they have not been killed or bombed for these two years... Unlike ours, their psyche is calm and not traumatised. It's easy to give them advice that a democratic society should tolerate people with any views. Because they are not at war. But we are still at war. We live with it every day. Every day, some of us lose our relatives or friends. Yes, in war, everything is seen and perceived completely differently than in peacetime. After 24.02.22, our world was divided into two parts, with a front line in the middle. Yes, we see "black" across that line. Yes, this "black" is called Russia. I would like to never hear this name again... As well as everything connected with it... Neither about Russian culture, nor about the Russian church, nor about the "Russian world", etc. Because all of this is a marker and a flag of this war, which aims to completely destroy Ukrainians and Ukraine. Perhaps, when we win, we will be able to look at the world differently again, not only in black and white. But is it possible now? My psyche can't take it. I really have become different than I was before 24.02.22. And while explosions are going off, people are dying, and my family and friends are in danger, can I be different, tolerant, unemotional? Does the war give me a choice? Does Russia give us a choice?
