Abnormal heat in Kyiv: Ukrainian Orthodox Church prays for the rain

With the blessing of the hegumen Archbishop Paul (Lebid) during each liturgy in all churches of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra will be a special prayer for the rain.

In recent weeks the highest temperature of 30-35 degrees was registered on almost the whole territory of Ukraine, while in the east and in the northeast it reached 36-39 degrees and hot weather will continue for the next two weeks. July and August are usually the hottest months in Ukraine but this year heat is abnormal especially in the Central and Eastern Ukraine.

Therefore with the blessing of the hegumen Archbishop Paul (Lebid) during each liturgy in all churches of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Kyiv Cave Monastery) will be a special prayer for the rain.

Monks in the Lavra also pray for those who suffer from fires caused by the heat in Russia. Forty people have died to date as wildfires rage in central Russia.
