The All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations has called for a global prayer for Ukraine on Independence Day.
This is stated in the appeal of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) dated July 24 to religious leaders, clergy, religious communities, and believers around the world.
"Millions of people in Ukraine continue to suffer today from the war caused by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. In this time of trials, we need not only political and humanitarian support but also spiritual solidarity — through prayers, compassion, and fraternal participation," the appeal states.
It is noted that this interfaith spiritual initiative will take place on August 24, when Ukraine, under conditions of Russian military aggression, will celebrate its 34th Independence Day.
The purpose of this initiative is to unite believers around the world in a common prayerful appeal to the Almighty, asking for the end to the war and suffering, the protection of innocents and the preservation of human life, the establishment of a just peace, the restoration of truth, freedom, and dignity.
The UCCRO called on religious leaders and religious communities on August 24, or on the nearest worship day to this date, to appeal to their parishioners for the importance of spiritual solidarity with those who suffer and to offer a special prayer for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
The initiative of carrying out the World Prayer for Ukraine is supported by the President of Ukraine as well as religious leaders of the churches and religious organizations of Ukraine.
The Office of the President emphasized that the joint prayer of millions of believers around the world will serve as a powerful expression of solidarity with the Ukrainian people in their struggle for freedom, dignity, and peace. This collective prayer aims to help bring an end to the war.
