An international bicycle tour "Spiritual shrines – to God and world” to be held in Poland and Ukraine

In April-June this year the International Pilgrimage bicycle tour “Spiritual shrines – to God and world” will be held in Ukraine and Poland.

 

This was explained by project manager, MP of Lviv regional council deputy Bohdan Sydorak during a press conference, as reported by Vgolos.

 

Bohdan Sydorak noted that the bycicle tour is dedicated to the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Metropolitan Andriy Sheptytsky and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Father Mykhailo Verbitsky and the anniversaries of Ukrainian hymns: 150th anniversary of the “Ukraine has not yet perished” and the 130th anniversary of "Great and one God, save Ukraine for us”.

 

Tour participants will visit 22 wooden churches of the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine and Poland, which have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. In those localities where there are no UNESCO-listed churches, the cyclists will attend regular churches.

 

On April 19 and 26 the promotional tours will be held (and Stry Lviv), and on 8 May several tours will begin: 1) May, 8-10: Stry - Zhidachiv - Khodoriv - Yasin - Kolomyia - Nyzhniy Verbizh - Stry; 2) May, 15-17: Stry - Khodoriv - Rohatyn - Halych - Ivano-Frankivsk - Hoshiv - Stry; 3) 22-24 May: Stry - Syanky - Uzhok - Pikuy – Verkhne Husne - Matkiv - Lavochne - Stry; 4) May, 31 - June 6:  Stry - Drohobych - south Poland - Krakow - Przemysl - Rudky - Stry; 5) June, 12-14: Stry - Prylbychi - Mills - Horynets - Zdroj - Zholkva - Krekhiv - Stradch - Univ - Rakovets - Stry; 6) June, 21 - paths of Metropolitan Andriy Sheptytsky in Lviv.

 

To become a member or sympathizer of the tour, according to Bohdan Sydorak, register on the site http://eco-tourist.lviv.ua until April 30.

 

 

He added that the race participants, depending on the stage, will go by train, bus or bike.

 

They will ride a bike within each locality, and in some areas between settlements at a speed of 30-40 miles a day.
