The referendum ballot included the text of the Act on Declaration of Independence of Ukraine and a question "Do you confirm the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine?"
In the voting participated 31,891,700 citizens, that is 84.2% of the total number of voters. Out of this number, 28,804,100 citizens (90.3%) of them answered "Yes, I confirm." People of all regions of Ukraine, regardless of their nationality, gave a positive answer.
On December 1, 1991, the first president of independent Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, was elected. He received 19,643,600 votes, 61.56% of vote.
