Metropolitan Archbishop Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki stated in his Pastoral address that the Jubillee celebration marking the 600th anniversary of the transfer of the seat of Lviv Archbishops from Halych to Lviv will be continued this September.
The archbishop called the faithful to participate in the joint prayer of the Jubilee Year, the apogee of which will be the annual procession in honor of Jacob Strepa. According to the letter, the procession will be held on September 8 and will traditionally begin in the Sanctuary of St. Antony of Padua in Lviv with a liturgy at 9:30 a.m.
At 11 a.m., a delegate of Pope Benedict XVI, Cardinal Josef Tomko, from the Vatican will administer the celebratory Eucharist. After the Eucharist, at the Cathedral Square, an evangelization concert will be held and in the evening, in the Lviv opera House, an evening event in honor of the pope and the first night of the film “I Was Looking for You” about Pope John Paul II will be held.
Let the fact that Pope Benedict XVI himself joins our celebration through his delegate, the mentioned Cardinal Josef Tomko, and in that way, comes in our midst as the Vicar of Jesus Christ be a great privilege and honor for us,” reads Archbishop Mokrzycki's address.
