Archbishop of UOC-MP calls for 'Holy War' against terrorism

In his comments on the blast in Moscow's Domodedovo airport, Archbishop Ionafan (Yeletskih) of Tulchyn and Bratslav of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate noted that "in Ukraine, we must finally realize that we cannot wait behind the fence of our 'quiet' state till the attacks of the bombers are over as terrorism knows no borders or nationalities."

"The blood of the innocent people has cried out to Heaven and the conscience of people," reads the commentary.

According to orthodoxy.org.ua, the archbishop of the UOC-MP noted that today, the struggle against terrorism should "unite the efforts of all countries."

"And God grant that this holy war against evil in the name of human dignity, freedom and life may yield tangible fruit in the near future," added Archbishop Ionafan.  

The explosion in the Moscow Domodedovo airport occured on January 24 at 4:32 p.m., Moscow time. According to the latest information, 35 people died and 168 people were injured.
