Thousands of Ukrainians who were innocently killed in 1839-1941 will be also honored. It was reported by the LMR press-service.

"The memorial, which is a belated tribute to thousands of innocently murdered priests, monks and nuns, workers, intellectuals — all Ukrainian men and women, who in June 1941 were doomed to drink the bloody cup of the Moscow Communist-Bolshevik genocide on the lands of Western Ukraine to the dregs.

During the period from 1939 to 1941, approximately 1.2 million persons were deported from Western Ukraine. These were the worst repressions after the period of collectivization in the USSR. The Soviet government repressed 3-4 times more people than the Hitler regime during its occupation. A significant proportion of those deported, including women and children, died of frost, disease, hunger and starvation.

The number of victims in the prisons of Lviv is estimated at about 4,000 people. Although the data is far from complete, one can get an idea of the scale of prison terror during the retreat of the Bolsheviks from Western Ukraine. Approximately 22,000 people were tortured in prisons of Western Ukraine at the initial stage of the war," the organizers said.

This event will also be complemented by the International conference "Overcoming violence for peace", which will be held on September 4 in Lviv. It will be the basis for the preparation of the platform for the report on violence, political repression, human rights violations in Ukraine and the world.

Representatives from 46 countries of the world, United by the world Federation of Ukrainian women's organizations, will take part in the events.
