Cabinet Approves Plan to Commemorate 80th Anniversary of Holodomor 1932-1933 in Ukraine

On November 7 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a decree “On Events to Mark 80th Anniversary of Holodomor 1932-1933 in Ukraine.”

On November 7 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a decree “On Events to Mark 80th Anniversary of Holodomor 1932-1933 in Ukraine,” the website of the Cabinet reads.

The Plan for the Preparation and Implementation of Events includes for November 23 commemorative events with representatives of state agencies, local governments, and the public.

On Holodomor Memorial Day, Ukraine and its foreign representations will lower the State Flag of Ukraine and limit certain activities. On this day, wreaths will be laid at memorial places and a moment of silence for the victims will be held, among other events.

Screenings of feature and documentary films and exhibitions of archival documents and photographs are planned to be held in libraries, theaters, clubs, and museums throughout Ukraine. Memorial services to commemorate the victims of famines in Ukraine are also planned.
