Cabinet of Ministers to make available Torah scrolls for temporary use by Jewish community

The Cabinet of Ministers accepted the proposal of the Ministry of Justice to transfer to the Jewish religious community the documents related to religious worship – the Torah scrolls in the amount of 13 units for temporary use. It has been reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

As noted in the Cabinet of Ministers’ Decree as of 10 December 2015, the decision was made to ensure the freedom of religious practice, restoration of historical justice and in compliance with Article 17 of the Law of Ukraine “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations,” Article 10 of the Law of Ukraine “On National Archive Fund and Archival Institutions.”

“The state Archival Service along with the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Kyiv shall transfer these documents according to the established procedure,” goes the document.
