Candidate priests lost the election to Ternopil Regional Council

The lists of deputies to Ternopil regional council were released by the Regional Election Commission, reports RISU journalist Volodymyr Moroz.

 

In particular, Fr Volodymyr Buhrak, deputy rector of the Transfiguration Cathedral of the UOC in Kremenets, who stood as a candidate of Poroshenko Bloc – Solidarity lost the election in in district 26. Here, nine more candidates were running for elections.

 

Due to the fact that in the elections now not only the number of votes is considered, but their rating in the lists, district 26 has got no representative to the regional council.

 

Similarly, none of the ten candidates lost the elections for district 20, where the nominee of Poroshenko Bloc – Solidarity, Fr Ioann Lesyk, rector of the Church of St John the Theologian, sttod for elections.

 

In district 18, standing for election as a nominee from Fatherland party was the UOC-KP priest, Fr Roman Slivka. In this district, as in the previous two, no candidate was elected to the council. And there were ten of them.

As it was previously reported, the priests in Ternopil region stood for elections to Ternopil and Chortkiv city councils and a number of district councils. A UGCC priest Volodymyr Hrynda was elected to Ternopil City Council, but the Church announced he would withdraw the mandate. The final results of the elections to the district councils in 2015 have not been announced yet.
