The former head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Cardinal Lubomyr (Husar) is convinced that radical protest actions with the use of force will have no positive effect and that one can obtain concessions from the authorities only in a peaceful way. The cardinal said so at the meeting with Catholic media workers in Kyiv.

According to Patriarch Lubomyr, Ukrainians must invent their own methods of influencing the authorities. He mentioned the example of the Kyiv action to support European integration under the motto “Let us not allow the bull to abduct Europe” as a more or less effective way.

“These people chose a peaceful way of expressing their views. And their motto shows their good knowledge of the classical literature, or, to be more exact, mythology.  They chose a neat call. Therefore, it is a way to express the will of the people, or at least a group of people who understand something.”
