Cardinal Konrad Krajevsky, Papal Almoner currently visiting Ukraine, visited a charity kitchen in Kherson. He opened it at the end of April in the city's Dominican Center of St. Martin in Fastiv.

This was reported by CREDO.

This time, the Papal envoy, accompanied by Auxiliary Bishop Jan Sobilo of the Kharkiv-Zaporizhia Diocese, brought aid to people affected by the Russian terrorist attack at the Kakhovska Hydroelectric Power Station.

Father Mykhailo Romaniv OP, the director of the Center of St. Martin, commented on Cardinal Krajevsky's visit, which is already the sixth since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine.

"We, together with our volunteers, have doubled our efforts by organizing an additional kitchen because after the tragedy at the Kakhovska Hydroelectric Power Station, people living in the flooded areas, in the Korabelnyi district, as well as in other affected villages, needed hot meals. So we decided to increase the quantity. For example, today alone, our kitchen served about a thousand lunches. We prepare food for the residents of the Shumenskyi neighborhood where the kitchen is located, and we also deliver meals to the homes of other people who need them. But a crucial part of our mission was providing lunches for the liquidators of the tragedy's aftermath — these are people from all over Ukraine."

"The distance from the Vatican to you is 3,123 kilometers," Cardinal Krajevsky said during the meeting with the staff of the charity kitchen. "We brought medicine and supplies from the Holy Father. In this way, the Pope wants to say: the Vatican is far away but very close. The Pope blesses you and prays for you."
