At the end of his visit to Ukraine, the Secretary of State of the Holy See met with Redemptorist priests Ivan Levytsky and Bohdan Geleta, who were held in Russian captivity.

Before leaving the country, he met in Lviv with two Greek Catholic priests who were recently released from Russian captivity. This is stated in the official summary of the visit, published in the Vatican magazine "L'Osservatore Romano," according to Vatican News.

On July 23, in the afternoon, Cardinal Parolin left Kyiv. On his way to Poland, he stopped in Lviv, where he met with the Redemptorist priests Bohdan Geleta and Ivan Levytsky, who were released from Russian captivity on June 28, 2024.

In a fraternal conversation, the Envoy of His Holiness inquired about the conditions of their imprisonment and current condition, including their health. Both priests expressed gratitude for the prayers and tireless concern of the Pope and the Holy See for their fate.
