The head of the Italian Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, met with children who came from Ukraine to Italy for a few weeks of summer vacation as part of the Better Together project.

This was reported by Vatican News.

"These small seeds of peace are crucial amidst the terrible seeds of war."

This is how the cardinal characterized the reception of children and teenagers from Ukraine who arrived in Italy as part of the Better Together project to spend part of their summer vacation.

This initiative is coordinated by Caritas Italy together with the Department for the Pastoral Care of Families of the Italian Bishops, in cooperation with Caritas Ukraine and Caritas-Spes, the Apostolic Nunciature in Kyiv and the diplomatic missions of Ukraine in Italy and the Holy See.

"Here they finally find some peace: it is a light we are sure they will bring back to Ukraine," said Cardinal Zuppi.

"This is a wonderful seed for us as well, for oftentimes, we do not know what to do in the face of such great evil. This here is something we can do," he added.
