Crimean Mufti Hajji Emirali Ablaev has called the present times in the region difficult, but at the same time has called on the Tatars to remain on the peninsula.

“After many years of deportation, the Crimean Tatars have returned to their homeland,” he said during an extraordinary session of the Kurultai on March 29 in Bakhchysarai, Interfax-Religion reports.

“Despite the fact that today the region is going through tough times, we must not leave the region,” said the spiritual leader of the Crimean Muslims.

The delegates of the congress approved the initiative of creating national territorial autonomy.
