Publication of the full Ukrainian translation of the Quran is a significant event for the whole Ukrainian community.

As RISU informed earlier "Osnovy" publishing house is going to present a Ukrainian translation of the Quran– the holy book of Muslims. It took PhD of Ostroh Academy researcher and translator Mykhailo Yakubovich about 5 years to translate the Quran into Ukrainian, says the publisher.

Human rights activist, leader of Crimean Tatars Mustafa Jemilev commented this publication. "Publication of the full Ukrainian translation of the Quran is a significant event for the whole Ukrainian community. It will help the reader to understand better values ​​and life principles of the Muslim community in our country. Today about 500 thousand Muslims are the citizens of Ukraine. Indigenous people of Crimea Crimean Tatars are a special part of the Ukrainian nation, which gives more color to the cultural and spiritual wealth of Ukraine. History of Islam in Ukraine is connected, first of all, with Crimean Tatars. Ukrainian translation of the meanings of the Quran will promote closer connection of Crimean Tatars and all Ukrainians", said Jemilev.

It is known that the first attempt to translate the Quran into old Ukrainian language was made in the seventeenth century. A polyglot from Lviv Alexander Abranchak-Lysenetskyy also tried to translate Quran into the modern Ukrainian language, but the text was never published.
