On November 5 in Madrid, a regular general assembly and days of spiritual renewal for priests of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) in Spain began under the leadership of Apostolic Visitator for Ukrainian Greek Catholics in Italy and Spain, Bishop Dionisii (Liakhovych). The assembly is held in the retreat center of the Assumption of the Holy Virgin, reported the press service of the UGCC in Italy.
The main themes of the spiritual retreat are the new evangelization, life by the Holy Sacraments, and the role of lay people in the work of evangelization.
“The new evangelization is oriented especially toward people who distanced themselves from the church and do not practice the Christian life, even though they were baptized, in order to help them meet with the Lord again. Today, it is very important to remember that according to the teaching of the Second Vatican Council, the Lord wishes to extend his kingdom through lay people, the Kingdom of truth and life, holiness and grace, justice, love and peace,” said the hierarch.
