Patriarch Sviatoslav of the UGCC urged the authorities not to make important decisions during the pandemic and to declare a political quarantine.

Patriarch Sviatoslav of the UGCC urged the authorities not to make important decisions during the pandemic and to declare a political quarantine.

He said this today, March 22, during a sermon in the Patriarchal Cathedral.

"I am appealing to our authorities today, the authorities of various levels: you are goung through a difficult time today. Just know that our Church is with you. But at the same time, I urge you to declare a political quarantine in the country, do not take decisions at a time of such pain and suffering that require a national discussion, a General public discussion," the first Hierarch said.

The UGCC Patriarch also called for joining efforts to serve people.

"Do not make such decisions that may lead to social tension. And even more, resist the temptation to use quarantine measures to harass or repress political opponents.

Let's put aside everything that separates us in the face of danger and unites in serving our people," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
