Department for Religious Affairs Officially States that No UOC-MP Churches Were Seized During or After EuroMaidan

The ministry stressed that no churches were seized during or after EuroMaidan and that in Ukraine there is no civil conflict, but that there is blatant Russian aggression against the country.

The Department for Religious and Ethnic Affairs of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine responded to a statement by the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church from March 19 in which it alleges that churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine were forcefully seized. The ministry stressed that no churches were seized during or after EuroMaidan and that in Ukraine there is no civil conflict, but that there is blatant Russian aggression against the country.

The Department for Religious Affairs stressed that “the events on Maidan have shown that almost all the churches of Ukraine, including representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, took the side of the people.”
