The UOC-KP filed a lawsuit regarding the illegality of the registration actions of Ukraine's Ministry of Culture on the termination of the Kyiv Patriarchy of the UOC-KP and the creation of the Liquidation Commission of the Kyiv Patriarchate of the UOC-KP led by Metropolitan Ioan (Yaremenko).
The UOC-KP filed a lawsuit regarding the illegality of the registration actions of Ukraine's Ministry of Culture on the termination of the Kyiv Patriarchy of the UOC-KP and the creation of the Liquidation Commission of the Kyiv Patriarchate of the UOC-KP led by Metropolitan Ioan (Yaremenko). This is reported by UNN that cited the press service of the UOC-KP.
"Mr Yaremenko (Metropolitan Ioan of Cherkasy of the OCU), has already managed to commit actions that carry signs of a crime under Article 356 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, regarding which the application was filed to the National Police of Ukraine. In addition, on August 21, 2019, according to statement of the Chairman of the Liquidation Commission, Mr Yaremenko (Metropolitan Ioan of Cherkasy of the OCU), accounts of the Kyiv Patriarchate opened in the Savings Bank of Ukraine were blocked,” the UOC-KP notes.
Lawyers of the Kyiv Patriarchy of the UOC-KP filed motions to the District Administrative Court of Kyiv to secure the claim.
"In particular, to ban Mr Yaremenko (Metropolitan Ioan of Cherkasy of the OCU) to take any action related to disposal and management of property of the Kyiv Patriarchy of the UOC-KP and to take any action related to termination and liquidation of the religious organization of the Kyiv Patriarchy UOC-KP before the decision in the case enters in force,” goes the text.
On September 4, 2019, the District Administrative Court of the Kyiv upheld the request of the lawyers of the Kyiv Patriarchate of the UOC-KP to secure the said claim.
From now on, Mr Yaremenko (Metropolitan Ioan of Cherkasy of the OCU) is banned to take any action related to disposal and management of property of the Kyiv Patriarchy of the UOC-KP and to take any action related to termination and liquidation of the religious organization of the Kyiv Patriarchy UOC-KP before the decision in the case enters in force.
