Dmytro Kuleba: in 2023, the West should impose sanctions against Patriarch Kirill

02.01.2023, 11:41

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is in favor of the West imposing sanctions against Russian Patriarch Kirill (Gundyaev) in 2023 and leading to the overthrow of Russia's defense sector.

He said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, according to European Pravda.

"My focus is any sanctions and any steps that strengthen sanctions and block circumvention of sanctions against the Russian missile and drone industry. There are a lot of different important sanctions, and I want even more banks to be disconnected from SWIFT. I also want Patriarch Kirill and a couple of oligarchs to bring under sanctions, both gas and nuclear – a lot of things," Kuleba said, answering a question about the main "sanctions" tasks for the next year.

"But first of all, we need to bring down the defense complex of Russia, its military machine, and in it, the number one target is the missile and drone industry. It is necessary to cut off their oxygen supply so that they cannot produce missiles, cannot establish mass production of attack drones, and thus can no longer terrorize the entire territory of Ukraine," the minister stressed.

According to him, removing this threat to Ukraine in the rear will be a huge relief at the front.

In late September, Hungary, for the second time, prevented the EU from imposing sanctions against Patriarch Kirill.
