UGCC Exarch of Donetsk asks to open green corridors for civilian population to evacuate from Mariupol and occupied cities

14.03.2022, 11:06

According to the exarch, some cities, such as Mariupol, suffer the most from military operations as the fiercest battles, from which the civilian population suffers greatly, are being waged there.

"The city was actually under siege. The lack of the most vital means, especially drinking water, food and medicine, threatens the lives of the civilian population catastrophically. The lack of such things has already led to deaths.

Opening green corridors for the exit of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian aid can alleviate this situation.

I call on all believers to strengthen joint prayer at the Holy liturgies, as well as private prayers in the intention of a humane solution to this difficult situation.

May the Merciful Lord, with his almighty right hand, destroy the diabolical plans to destroy our people and give us the long-awaited just peace, requested the exarch.

He called the faithful to prayer:

"We must understand that there are two lines of the struggle against the enemy: military resistance and spiritual resistance. Most of us cannot participate in armed resistance, but we must maintain a spiritual front. Our strength is in prayer to God."
