In an interview to RISU, a well-known Orthodox publicist and theologian Yurii Chornomorets expressed an opinion that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) has come back to a normal state of government and now has qualitative attributes of a modern church government. This was reflected by a number of new appointments and bt the restoration of the powers of Metropolitan Volodymyr.

Chornomorets spoke positively about the decision to appoint Archbishop Antonii Administrator of the UOC-MP. According to the theologian, Archbishop Antonii was given a number of new powers and became the right hand of Metropolitan Volodymyr.

As he spoke about the new “Church Chancellor of the Primate,” Chornomorets noted in particular that Archbishop Antonii is very distant from various groups of bishops, equally distant from everyone which allows him to be open to everyone.

According to Chornomorets, Archbishop Antonii has many positive qualities necessary for the church today.

“Firstly, he is very careful and never makes impulsive steps. It is very important for the UOC today as it needs guarantors of the stable development of the church. Secondly, he proved to be a gifted organizer of order in places dominated by chaos. Specifically, he fulfilled the administrative responsibilities very well in the metropolitanate office. He managed to establish exemplary order in the seminary and academy. Today, they are actually completely new spiritual schools,” said the theologian.
