Festival of Children’s Creative Art Held in Kyiv Cave Monastery

KYIV – On May 29, 2010, on Children's Care Day on the territory of the Kyiv Cave Monastery with the blessing of the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Volodymyr, the Second Festival of Children's Creative Art Children in the monastery was held, organized by the international charitable foundation Soniashnyk together with the association Detvora.

Near the walls of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the monastery a makeshift stage was built for the young artists' performances. This year more that 150 participants were involved, performing for orphan children, handicapped children, and pupils of the Sunday schools of Kyiv and the region. 

When all the creative teams gathered, the primate visited the children and addressed them with the following: "The church always remembers its children and worries about them, especially the smallest ones. Be happy and grow wise."  

The hierarch presented one of the holiday organizers, the president of the international charitable foundation Soniashnyk Alla Horbunova, with the order of the Pochayiv Icon of the Mother of God, and distributed presents – souvenirs and sweets – to the children.

 
Apart from the concert, the festival program included tours of the monastery conducted by the students of the Kyiv Theological Schools.
