First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad Arrived to Ukraine

On May 7, 2010, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Orthodox Outside of Russia Metropolitan Hilarion arrived in Ukraine on an official visit.

KYIV – On May 7, 2010, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Orthodox Outside of Russia Metropolitan Hilarion arrived in Ukraine on an official visit, reported the website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP).  

Upon arrival to the capital of Ukraine, Metropolitan Hilarion visited the Holy Dormition of Kyiv Cave Monastery where he met with the UOC-MP primate Metropolitan Volodymyr.

During the meeting, Metropolitan Hilarion passed greetings from the clergy and the flock of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, and thanked the primate for the opportunity to visit in Ukraine and take part in the festivities that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is going to celebrate. 

In his turn, Metropolitan Volodymyr welcomed the high guest on his arrival to Ukraine and presented to him a paschal egg, a bishop's cross, and panagia.    

The visit of Metropolitan Hilarion will continue through May 20.

On May 9, the Metropolitan Volodymyr, accompanied by Metropolitan Hilarion, began an archpastoral visit to the western eparchies of UOC-MP.
