Following Moscow, UOC-MP severs Eucharistic communion with the Ecumenical Patriarchate
The Synod of the UOC (MP), which was held today in Kyiv on November 13, severed the Eucharistic communion with Constantinople and banned their laity to partake of the sacraments administered by the clergy of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
This is stated in the Journals of the Holy Synod.
“Given the destructive activities and gross violation of the canonical rules by the Patriarchate of Constantinople, the clergymen of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church shall suspend the Eucharistic communication with the clergy of the Constantinople Patriarchate, the laity shall abstain from participation in the Sacraments in the churches of the Constantinople Patriarchate,” the document says.
As reported, the decision to severe the Eucharistic communion with the Ecumenical Patriarchate was adopted by the ROC almost a month ago, on October 15, in Minsk.
