Fragment of matzeva found in Lviv during construction work

During the construction work on the outskirts of Lviv, in the area of ​​Sygnivka Street, a fragment of matzeva - a Jewish tombstone shaped as a vertical stone slab with Hebrew inscriptions installed on the grave - was removed. This was reported by the Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities of Ukraine.

According to them, this piece has remained in the construction debris since the construction time. The house itself, which was under construction in the yard, was probably built after 1945.


It is unknown how the fragment got there, but allegedly in the place where the repair was carried out, there are still other pieces of matzeva.
