On the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia on February 24, during her visit to Odesa, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock visited the Transfiguration Cathedral, which was damaged by a missile attack by Russian forces on July 23 last year.

This was reported by the Information Department of the UOC-MP, citing the press service of the Eparchy of Odesa.

The delegation that visited the ruined cathedral also included Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, the head of the Odesa military administration, the German ambassador to Ukraine, and others.

The diocese reports that the guests were told about the history of the shrine, shown the consequences of the destruction, and the restoration process.

"For more than half a year now, we have been restoring our cathedral, doing everything possible to resume services, sing akathists, and hold prayer services here as soon as possible. We believe that this will happen very soon and hope for your support," the diocesan press service said.
