Governmental Committee on Ensuring Realization of Rights of Religious Organizations Resumes Activity

Government passed a resolution to make alterations to the Provision on the Committee on Ensuring Realization of Rights of Religious Organizations and renewal of its composition taking into account the latest changes, particularly, in the composition of the Cabinet of Ministers.

At its session on 25 July, the Government passed a resolution to make alterations to the Provision on the Committee on Ensuring Realization of Rights of Religious Organizations and renewal of its composition taking into account the latest changes, particularly, in the composition of the Cabinet of Ministers. So reported the Institute for Religious Freedom (IRF) with reference to the Ministry of Culture.

The draft resolution was developed by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine on Instruction 1-1/839 of 10 April, 2012 of Ukraine’s President regarding the resumption of the activity of the committee.

The alterations to the Provision and renewal of the composition of the committee are aimed to take into account the results of the reformation of the system of central bodies of executive power, particularly, the ones connected with redistribution of powers between these bodies.

The All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations repeatedly called President Yanukovych and Premier Azarov to renew the activity of the Committee in order to develop and coordinate a unified state policy in the area of ensuring the freedom of worship.
