Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk emphasized that it would be important for Ukraine for Azerbaijan to participate in the Peace Summit, which will take place on June 16 in Switzerland.
As reported by Ukrinform, citing the press service of the Verkhovna Rada, Kondratiuk stated this in an interview with APA.AZ following an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan and participation in the sixth International Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku.
"We call on countries from all continents to join this coalition. This call particularly concerns the Muslim world. Ukraine invites Muslim countries to participate in the Peace Summit, which will take place on June 16 this year in Switzerland," she said.
Kondratiuk also stated that during her visit to Baku, during meetings with the leadership of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan and with the country's ministers, in her speech at the Forum, she invited Azerbaijan on behalf of Ukraine to participate in this Summit at the highest level.
"The Summit is related to peace, justice, and security issues. These are the topics, challenges, and values that are very close to our Azerbaijani colleagues. Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Ukraine. Therefore, the participation of official Baku in this Summit is very important for us," emphasized the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.
The sixth International Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku took place on May 1-3. The event brought together 110 countries, including countries from the Global South and the Muslim world: Iraq, Malaysia, Algeria, Pakistan, Turkey, Argentina, Uzbekistan, Morocco, Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia, and others.
